India on Monday has registered its second biggest Test win against Australia in the first Border-Gavaskar trophy Test at the Opus stadium in Perth. India won by 295 runs, with all five Indian bowlers taking atleast one wicket each. The tremendous team effort of India has helped them to secure 1-0 lead in the five-match Border-Gavaskar series.

Back-to-back centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli, and magnificent bowling of Jasprit Bumrah helped India beat Australia by 295 runs in the first Test of the five-match series.

Meanwhile, Australia kept on loosing wickets at regular intervals as India bundled them out for 238. For India, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah scalped three wickets each while Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana took two wickets.

For Australia, Travis Head became the star player by scoring 89 runs. At the same time, Mitchell March scored 47 while Alex Carey scored 36.

When Jaiswal scored 161 runs, Kohli brought up his memorable 30th Test ton. India’s Harshit Rana got the final wicket of Alex Carrey to secure first win of the India after the three-match loss the team has endured.

India’s biggest win over the Aussies in their backyard to date is by an innings and two runs in Sydney in 1978.

After the victory against Australia, India has jumped to the top spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings with 61.11 percentage of points won, while Australia dropped to the second position, with 57.69 percentage of points on.

India, meanwhile, who was on the top of the point table earlier, was dropped to second place after suffering a 0-3 series home defeat against New Zealand.
