The mega clash between India and Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024 remains under threat due to heavy showers in St. Lucia. It is likely that the Super 8 Group 1 clash at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia could be abandoned due to heavy showers on Monday evening.
As per the latest updates, steady rainfall lasted for around 17 minutes at 01:30 am (approx). The rainfall took place around 10-15 minutes earlier at around 11:00 pm. Interestingly, as per a post on X, the rainfall in St. Lucia was a blessing in disguise for the locals after a year of drought on the island.
I was talking to one of the locals at the Daren Sammy Ground, and he was telling me that St Lucia had a bad drought this year. There were some serious water issues. But luckily, rains came in time. “Feeding family and ease of living more important. Cricket can wait, brother.”

Notably, the rain gods had provided some respite in St. Lucia from 02:00 pm to 09:00 pm as there were clear skies and cool breeze gushing around. There were reports of incessant rains on Sunday. The videos shared by journalists present at the venue suggested that there were low or no chances of the match getting underway at the venue.
