Did 14-Year-Old Cricket Sensation 'Vaibhav Suryavanshi' Fail CBSE 10th?
‘”पढ़ोगे लिखोगे बनोगे नवाब, खेलोगे कूदोगे बनोगे खराब (education, and not sports, will make you successful”, an adage seems to be proved incorrect for the 14-year-old young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose news of failing the class 10th board result has gone viral on social media. Despite the news of failing the board exams, the success and appreciation graph of Vaibhav keeps increasing.
The post was shared by the Instagram page ‘satireology’, mentioning the news of ‘Vaibhav Suryavanshi’ Failing class 10th board exams and BCCI requesting a DRS review. The Instagram post has received over 1.5 M views and has been shared by over 1 M people on social media so far. The post mentioned that the 14-year-old cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has reportedly failed his 10th CBSE board examinations.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in an unusual move, has formally requested a DRS-style review of his answer sheets, citing concerns over potential evaluation errors. While the request is symbolic, it has sparked widespread discussion online, blending cricket fervor with academic pressure faced by young athletes”, the post said.

However, in the caption of the post, the Instagram user refuted the claim and wrote, “This is NOT real news, This post and page are completely satire. This post is meant for entertainment purposes only”.
Moreover, while the post claims that the news is not real, it is to be mentioned that Vaibhav Suryavanshi studies in class 8th (ABP reports 9th grade). The young cricket sensation has still not appeared for the board examination and is one or two years away from sitting the board exams.
The joke plays on DRS’s role in cricket, where players can appeal decisions, but here it’s applied absurdly to academics, poking fun at Vaibhav’s focus on cricket over studies, a common stereotype for young athletes in India.
Notably, Vaibhav, a Rajasthan Royals player, made headlines when he cracked 101 off 38 balls, becoming the youngest ever centurion in men’s T20 cricket.
