Team India captain Uday Saharan (81) and Sachin Dhas (96) played resilient knocks to guide their side to the final after a victory over South Africa in the U-19 World Cup semi-finals on Tuesday. Chasing a target of 245 runs, Team India was in a spot of bother at 32/4. However, Saharan and Dhas stitched together a 171-run stand for the fifth wicket to change the tide of the match in India”s favour.
Needing nine runs to win in 12 deliveries, Saharan was run out in the 49th over. But it was too late for South Africa to have their say as tailender Raj Limbani hit a boundary off fast bowler Nqobani Mokoena in the next delivery to seal the final spot for Team India. The defending champions reached the final for the fifth consecutive time in the U-19 World Cup and will take on the winners from semi-final 2 between Australia and Pakistan.
