India’s star doubles pairing of Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah faltered at the final hurdle as they went down fighting to Korean pair of Kim Minhyeok and Park Ganghyron in the final of the men’s doubles event at the WTT Feeder Otocec 2024 presented by I Feel Slovenia played at the Sports Centre Octocec in Slovenia on April 1.
Gujarat boys Manav and Manush took off in style in the final by winning the opening game but the Koreans levelled in the very next game. Even though the Indian duo moved ahead in the match by winning the third game, the 12th seeded Koreans pocketed the next two games to hand Indians a 3-2 defeat and walked away with the trophy.
The number one seeded pair of Manav and Manush kicked off the tournament in style by crushing Brazilians Carlos Ishida and Guilherme Teodoro 3-0 in the round of 16 before taking out the seventh seeds Benedek Olah and Alex Naumi of Finland 3-0.
In the semi-finals, Thakkar-Shah duo got the better of Jakub Zelinka and Lubomir Pistej of Czech Republic 3-1.
Manav-Manush duo emerged winners in the WTT Feeder Beirut II which concluded on March 22 and they finished runners-up in the WTT Feeder Beirut I on March 27.
