Since Google Photos has been considered the most popular feature-filled image and cloud backup solution, the facial recognition feature is often a drawback in that some don’t want to see certain faces or images in your ‘memories’ collections. Now, Google Photos has a new option that lets the users blur or hide the photos from showing them on the collection which was taken a day before or in the same week. If you change the option on Google Photos, it will hide faces from its Memories feature ensuring unwanted faces don’t appear.

How to do it:

Open Google Photos > go to the Collections tab> select “People and pets.” Choose the face you want to block or see less often, now tap the three-button menu (top right) and select “Hide face from memories.” You’ll have two options: “Show less” (disable memories from that face) or “Block face” (hide the face from memories and group photos). It is important to note that hiding faces may not work with all images.

This new feature helps you control who appears in your Memories which reminds you of past photos taken on the same date or week.  You can customise your Memories experience and focus on cherished moments with loved ones it carries various image, and video editing options as well.

Apart from that, you can Set up and manage your face groups, but this feature isn’t available in all geographic regions, all domains, or all account types. Users can easily search and manage photos and they can apply a label to people or pets that appear in photos grouped by Google Photos. Additionally, you can add a name in the photo so that only you can find the private face labels you choose, even if you share those photos.

How to do it:

  1. At the top of a face group, click Add a name.
  2. Enter a name or nickname.
  3. Save it.
