A recent survey by McAfee revealed that artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to play a vital role in this year”s Valentine”s Day. The renowned security software firm has recently unveiled its second annual “Modern Love” study. The report showed that 56 percent of respondents in India are planning to use AI tools to pen a love letter this Valentine’s Day.

McAfee said that they have surveyed 7,000 adults in seven countries, including India, to reveal the role of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in online dating and the implications this has for increased catfishing and other scams. Notably, the report also revealed that nearly one in four (23 percent) Americans are using AI tools to help create photos or other content when dating online.

Also, 65 percent of surveyed Indians have used ChatGPT or AI to create pictures or other content for dating apps. According to the study, the most common reason for using AI-powered tools for love messages is that it would lead to a better response rate. The study also revealed that nearly two-thirds (64 percent) expressed distrust towards potential love interests who used AI-generated imagery and chat bots on their profiles.

As per the research, 26 percent of respondents chatted with people but later found out that it was with a bot. Meanwhile, the majority of participants in the survey said that they came across suspected AI-generated images and fake profiles on dating apps.

The report highlighted that the use of AI-generated images for fake profiles and photos appears to be rising. Notably, 39 percent of Indians said their conversations with a potential love interest online turned out to be with a scammer.
