Meta-owned WhatsApp is reportedly all set to introduce an AI-powered chatbot to the platform. WABetaInfo reported that the instant messaging platform is currently testing a shortcut feature, in which users will be able to get quick access to AI-powered chats directly from the Chats tab.

The report revealed that the new shortcut for AI-powered chats is included in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.24.26. This dedicated shortcut button is placed in the Chats tab above the icon to start new chats. WABetaInfo also reported that the new shortcut will enable WhatsApp users to quickly open the AI-powered chats. The shortcut button will make the process faster and more convenient for users. The specialised button, which appears in a multicolor circle in a pale gray button, will help users to access AI-powered chats from the Chats Tab directly and eliminates the need to navigate through the contact list.

The new feature is currently available to only a few beta testers, and it is expected to be rolled out to more users over the coming weeks. In September, Meta unveiled the Meta AI in beta. It is an advanced conversational assistant that is available on Meta platforms including WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. Meta AI, an assistant that users can interact with like a person, is powered by a custom model that leverages technology from Llama 2 and Meta”s latest large language model (LLM) research. Llama 2, which is available freely for commercial use, is the next generation of Meta”s open-source large language model.
