Doha, Qatar: In a dramatic escalation, Iran has reportedly launched six missiles targeting US military bases in Qatar, eyewitnesses said. The development was first reported by Haaretz, citing Reuters, just minutes ago. Qatar’s Defence Ministry said that its air defence systems successfully intercepted missiles targeting Al Udeid Air Base and the incident resulted in no deaths or injuries.

Witnesses in Doha told Timeline they heard loud explosions over the Qatari capital shortly before the report emerged. The attack appears to mark a significant widening of the regional conflict after US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites in recent days.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari condemned the IRGC attack on the Al Udeid base, calling it a “violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace and the UN charter”.

“We, in the State of Qatar, reserve our right to respond directly … to this blatant aggression in accordance with international law,” al-Ansari said in a statement.

At least six missiles were reportedly fired toward U.S. bases in Qatar, according to an Israeli official speaking to Axios. Simultaneously, air defence systems were activated at American facilities in Iraq in anticipation of potential strikes.
