The inaugural Dubai AI Week, held under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister, has kickstarted this week, drawing a global audience of thought leaders, industry experts and AI professionals. The week-long event, ending on April 25, will witness incorporation of AI into all businesses in order to remain competitive in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
Here are some of the major steps taken by the Dubai government in the event:
As of now, 325 companies have already applied for the AI Seal, an initiative to establish a network of trusted firms that government entities and businesses can rely on for secure and responsible AI solutions.

Dubai Health has also announced the launch of the Artificial Intelligence Literacy Framework, the first comprehensive framework developed in the UAE to advance AI literacy in the professional environment. First of its kind in the region, ‘Alif’ underscores Dubai Health’s commitment to innovation and continuous learning.
During the week, the Dubai authorities have also launched the first-ever PhD programme in AI, which was announced by the University of Birmingham. The programme will be fully accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE Ministry of Education. Students accepted into the PhD programme in AI will pursue diverse streams such as AI for medicine and healthcare, natural language processing, computer vision, AI ethics and regulation, and explainable and trustworthy AI.

Moreover, during the week, the authorities have also announced a groundbreaking Dh2 billion hyperscale data centre. The facility will be developed and operated by du, the UAE’s leading telecommunications and digital service provider, in collaboration with Microsoft.
The week-long Dubai AI event is being held at multiple locations including the Museum of the Future, AREA 2071, and Emirates Towers Boulevard.
