The Emirates ID, launched in 2021 by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), contains both visible and non-visible information. The cardholder may have acquainted with the printed information on the ID, such as personal and professional data, signatures, photographs, etc.
Meanwhile, it is interesting to observe that the small chip on the ID hid 20 crucial pieces of information that can be read only through the ICP”s “e-link” system, as it has been protected through an enhanced protection system. In addition, the chip contains more free space, allowing the authorities to add more information about the cardholder.

ICP has also allowed service providers to develop programmes to read personal data on the chip to facilitate impeccable and hassle-free service delivery. In addition, the second generation of Emirates ID contains nine security features that deter fraudulent use of the card with exceptional accuracy.
