Houthis Deny Targeting Makkah As Saudi Arabia Claims Drone Destroyed Near The Holy City
Houthis on Wednesday, September 16, denied the Saudi Arabia’s claim of alleged attack targeting the holy city of Makkah. In a statement, the Houthi politburo member Hazem al-Assad said they had not targeted Mecca. The Yemeni group said the claims about targeting Mecca are a worn-out lie that has been used before and no longer fools anyone.
Saudi coalition on Wednesday claimed that their air defences destroyed a Houthi drone south of Makkah before it entered prohibited airspace over the holy city. The Saudi official said that it was the second Houthi attempt to target Makkah after a ballistic missile launch in July 2017.

Makkah is home to some of the holiest sites in Islam and the focal point of the annual hajj pilgrimage.
