
Saudi Crown Price Announces Launches Mega Transformative Project In Makkah
Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has announced the launch of “King Salman Gate,” a transformative multi-use development in the Holy City of Makkah. The proposed outline of the massive project was shared in an X post on Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia.
The huge expansion is likely to take place outside the kingdom’s Grand Mosque in Makkah, which involves the construction of tall towers near the holy site for the purpose of prayer, accommodation and hospitality.

Named after the ruler, “King Salman Gate”, the project was officially announced on Wednesday, October 15.

The project would span up to 12 million square metres, offering residential, hospitality, commercial and cultural experiences with capacity for around 900,000 indoor and outdoor playing spaces.
The proposed AI-generated video, shared on the X post, shows towers of varying heights overlooking the Grand Mosque, the holiest site in Islam.

The video shows skyscrapers towering over the area. Part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic diversification initiative, the project will be developed by RUA AlHaram AlMakki Co, an arm of the sovereign wealth fund. The project is expected to generate over 300,000 jobs over the next decade.
In recent years, the kingdom has proposed more commercial projects and expansions in Mecca and Medina while aimig to welcome more than 30 million foreign pilgrims a year in the holy cities by 2030.
