Saudi Arabia Issues First-Ever Air-Raid Siren In Makkah After Houthi Drone Interception
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia issued its first-ever emergency air-raid and aerial threat alert for Makkah on Tuesday, after intercepting alleged drones fired by Yemen’s Houthis.
Notably, it is said that the alert was the first ever aerial threat in the holy city. The alerts covered Saudi Arabia’s western coast, including the holy city of Mecca and the Jeddah and Taif governorates.

The Saudi coalition force had claimed that Houthis allegedly targeted the holy city, deepening the conflict roiling the region. However, the claim has been categorically denied by the Yemeni group, saying it is a false allegation and a worn-out lie that has been used before and no longer fools anyone.
Saudi claimed that the unprecedented alert was triggered after the kingdom’s air defences intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone south of Mecca before it entered the prohibited airspace.

Houthis and Saudi-backed coalition forces continue to fight, after Saudi launched offensive against the Yemeni group, including a maritime blockage. Responding to the Saudi operation, Houthis also declared maritime blockade on the kingdom and targeting its ships in the Red Sea.
