UN Reports Over 25 Killed In Gaza, Says Israel Violated Lebanese Airspace More Than 100 Times

More than 25 Palestinians were reportedly killed in fresh Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip over the weekend, while Israeli aircraft violated Lebanese airspace more than 100 times despite an existing ceasefire agreement, according to the United Nations.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Israeli airstrikes, shelling and gunfire continued across Gaza, with western parts of the enclave witnessing the heaviest attacks.

The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that more than 150 people were killed in July, marking the highest monthly death toll recorded this year.

An Israeli strike near Al-Aqsa Hospital on Saturday reportedly damaged a medical storage facility and destroyed essential medical supplies, including items delivered by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

UN agencies also warned of severe shortages of medicines, including insulin, dialysis supplies and cardiac treatment equipment, while several infection-control materials remain pending approval for entry into Gaza.

Although food availability has improved since the ceasefire announced in October, the World Food Programme (WFP) said soaring prices continue to leave many families unable to afford basic food.

Nearly half of surveyed households reported running out of food, while shortages of cooking gas have forced many residents to rely on firewood or hazardous waste for cooking.

Meanwhile, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said it recorded 125 Israeli airspace violations between Thursday and Sunday, with drones and military aircraft operating over Lebanese territory.

Peacekeepers also reported continued military activity in southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire reached earlier this year.

The developments come as diplomatic efforts continue to preserve the ceasefire and advance negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.
