Charlie Kirk’s Controversial Statements Against Palestine Resurface After His Death

On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk, a prominent American right-wing activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

The incident, which occurred around 12:20 p.m. MDT, has sent shockwaves through the nation and ignited debates about political violence, free speech, and the culture of polarisation in America

Kirk was addressing a crowd of approximately 3,000 attendees as part of his “American Comeback Tour” when a sniper fired a single shot from a nearby rooftop, striking him in the neck.

Despite initial confusion and reports of a suspect in custody, authorities later confirmed that no one had been apprehended, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox labelled the incident a “political assassination,” emphasising the gravity of the attack on a public figure. President Donald Trump and other political leaders across the spectrum condemned the act, calling for unity and an end to political violence.

Throughout his career, Charlie Kirk was known for his controversial opinions on various issues. He frequently criticised the concept of empathy, stating, “I can’t stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that… it does a lot of damage.”

Kirk’s stance on international affairs, particularly regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict, also drew criticism. He dismissed the existence of Palestine, referring to the region as “Judea and Samaria,” and was a staunch defender of Israeli policies, often accusing Palestinians of deserving their plight due to the actions of their leaders.

His rhetoric extended to other marginalised groups, where he was accused of dehumanising immigrants, Muslims, LGBTQ+ individuals, Black Americans, and women. Critics argue that his inflammatory language contributed to a climate of division and hostility in American political discourse.

He was a self-proclaimed genocide apologist, anti-women’s rights, anti-abortion, and opposed to basic human rights. Many also accused him of being racist and promoting harmful ideologies.

In one of his most shocking remarks, he stated that his own daughter would have to carry a pregnancy to term even if the child was conceived through rape. These comments, among others, fueled widespread condemnation.

The news of Charlie Kirk’s death has elicited a range of reactions. Supporters view him as a martyr for conservative values, while detractors see his passing as a consequence of the divisive and often incendiary rhetoric he espoused. Some have even celebrated his death, citing his controversial views as justification.

In the aftermath, vigils were held across the country, and political leaders from both sides of the aisle have called for an end to political violence. The FBI continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with no arrests made as of now.
