Sheikh Hasina, the Bangladesh Prime Minister arrived in Beijing for a four-day visit for talks with China leadership. She will hold talk with President Xi Jinping, and Premier Li Qiang to further tighten the bilateral strategic ties.

All range of bilateral relations and regional and international matters will come for discussion, during a separate meeting with Xi and Li, as reported by official BSS news agency.

Hasina’s visit to Beijing is taking place within 15 days of her visit to India from June 21 to 22, reported Bangladeshi news agency. She had her last meeting with Xi Jinping during the sidelines of the 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Bangladesh leader will also hold a delegation-level bilateral meeting with her Chinese counterpart Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People. After the meeting, Bangladesh and China are likely to sign and renew 20 to 22 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), said the report.

“The MoUs on cooperation in the economic and banking sector, trade and investment, digital economy, infrastructure development, assistance in disaster management, construction of 6th and 9th Bangladesh-China friendship bridges, export of agricultural products from Bangladesh and people to people connectivity are likely to be signed”, said Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud during a curtain raiser press conference at the Foreign Ministry in Bangladesh.

Rohingya issue, cooperation on business, trade, commerce and development will dominate the discussions, will dominate the discussion between Hasina and the China leadership.

This is her fourth visit to China, and it is expected to bolster the relation between the two countries to “comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership” from “strategic partnership”, said the media report.

Dhaka and Beijing will celebrate the golden jubilee of their diplomatic relation next year.
