Fee for visa to UK will rise from today October 4, 2023 onwards. The escalation is based on the statement made by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in July regarding escalation of the visa fees and health charges paid by the applicants to aid the National Health Service as an approach to “accommodate” the increase in public sector wages.

From today onwards all foreigners will face the price hike in the visas to United Kingdom. According to the Home Office website, student visa has jumped up to a 35 percentage increase in price whereas citizenship and family settlement visa is escalated by 20 percentage. Work or visit visa is also increased by 15 percentage. Which means, students will have to pay the amount of £490 which is Rs. 49,234 Indian money. Visit visa for six months is £115 (Rs 11,545). Earlier it was £110 (Rs 10,039). Visit visa spanning for two years have gone from £376 to £400 (which is from Rs 37,738 to Rs 40,150). If the visit is for five years, the price will be £771 which was £670 earlier (i.e.; a hike from Rs 67,255 to Rs 77,399). If an individual wish to opt for a  ten year visit visa, the price of the visa will be £963 which was an amount of £837 before (from Rs 84,015 to Rs 96,664).

Price of the visa for the skilled workers has also hiked up. Skilled worker visa is visas for those areas of job which the native employers find hard to locate an employee in their resident labour market. Jobs like architect, scientists and software developers.

The new development will have a major impact to Indians. As per report, out of 770,000 students who left India to study abroad, 140,000 flew to United Kingdom. To Indians, the new price could be “unaffordable”.

According to the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the price escalation is “entirely right” as it haven”t met with any sort of increase in the recent years.
