Hamad International Airport Bags ‘World’s Best Airport’ Award; Changi Comes Second

Doha’s Hamad International Airport (HIA) secured the ‘world’s best airport’ award at the annual Skytrax Awards. The awards were held as part of the Passenger Terminal Expo in Frankfurt, Germany. Doha airport received the coveted title toppling 12-time champion, Singapore Changi Airport. Meanwhile, Seoul Incheon International Airport grabbed the third position.

This is the third time the Hamad International Airport crowned the title and before it received in 2021 and 2022. Besides, the airport has won the positions ‘world’s best airport shopping’ for the second consecutive time and ‘best airport in the Middle East’ for the tenth consecutive year.

Badr Mohammed Al Meer, CEO of Qatar Airways Group expressed happiness at the timing of the present award since coincides with the airport’s operation reaching tenth year.

“This year, HIA celebrates its milestone 10th year of operations, and we are truly honoured that passengers have voted us the best airport in the world for a third time,” the Business Standard quotes, as Al Meer is saying.

The Awards were given by Skytrax based on a global survey conducted from August 2023 until February 2024. The factors that taken into consideration includes, check in, arrivals, shopping, transfers, security and immigration through to departure at the gate. The Skytrax World Airport Awards has been conducted since 1999.

The top ten airports of 2024 in Skytrax World Airport Awards, alongside last year’s rankings are given below:
