Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman and Asif Ali Zardari, the party’s President held a meeting with Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The two parties agreed “in principle to save the country from political instability”. The leaders talked about the overall situation of the country and future political cooperation, as per the statement released by PML-N on their X (formerly twitter) account.
According to the statement, PPP will put forward the proposals of PML-N in the central Executive Committee meeting. The PML-N delegation include Azam Nazir Tara, Shaza Fatima, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Ayaz Sadiq, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Tanveer, Khwaja Saad Rafiq, and Malik Ahmed Khan. The statement read, “the leaders agreed to cooperate politically to bring the country political stability”.
The Secretariat of the PPP Chairman in a statement said that it was the party’s first meeting with PML-N over the government’s formation. It said, “Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former Prime Minister nawaz sharifShehbaz Sharif discussed government formation”.
As reported by Pakistan-based newspaper Dawn, Muttahida Quami Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said the discussion during a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders did not involve any talks regarding the formation of the next government.
While speaking to reporters, Siddiqui said polls have created a challenging situation in Pakistan and added that all parties must play their part in moving the country out of crisis. “The stability of democracy is more important than anything else”, he said. He added that it has not yet been confirmed whether the MQM-P will get any share in the government or not.
Report from Dawn said that the statement from Siddiqui came shortly after the PML-N released a statement saying that the tow parties reached a “principle agreement” to work together in the next government.
In the statement, PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb said that leaders of PML-N and MQM-P agreed on political cooperation. She also noted that an in-principle agreement was reached between MQM-P leadership and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.
