The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the registration deadline for the courses offered in ODL/Online mode for the January 24 session till March 31, 2024. This extension is applicable to the fresh admission for all programmes, except certificate semester based and merit-based courses, the open university shared via ‘X’.

Students must register at ignouiop.samarth.ac.in for online programs, whereas ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in is the place to register for online and distance learning (ODL) programs.


This is the third consecutive deadline extension by the university. Earlier, IGNOU has extended the registration deadline from January 24 to March 10 and March 20.

The institution has also provided detailed information regarding filling up the application form on the university website. Click on the button NEW REGISTRATION that appears in the applicant login area and fill in the required registration details. It has also asked to provide candidates’ email and mobile numbers at the time of registration. The submission with the late fee will charge extra Rs 500.

In addition to the online courses, enrolled students may avail the scholarships from the university. Eligible students can apply for Government of India Scholarships on the National Scholarship Portal at https://scholarships.gov.in/ after confirmation of admission.

Notably, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), country’s largest open university, has introduced its four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP). The open university has come up with the FYUP during the inauguration session of the 2-Day National Seminar on “G20 Presidency and India’s Global Leadership Role.”
