“My Heart Bleeds”: Mamata Banerjee On The Alleged Molestation Of Woman Employee At Raj Bhavan By Governor

Edited by Fathimathu Shana

Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal Chief Minister, lashed out at the Governor C V Ananda Bose for the alleged molestation of a woman employee at Raj Bhavan. Banerjee also wondered why the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who went to the Raj Bhavan last night did not make any comment on the issue.

She said her “heart bleeds” for the woman. The West Bengal CM’s comment came a day after a female employee at the state’s Raj Bhavan accused the Governor of molestation. While speaking at a public rally in Purba Bardhaman district, Banerjee called the incident a shame.

She said she had seen the video testimony of the woman and the woman’s tears broke her heart. She demanded that BJP should answer why the Governor did this to a woman working at Raj Bhavan. Banerjee further added that the woman was molested not once but twice, and that she knows hundreds of such incidents

Mamata Banerjee added that “the woman cried and walked out saying she was too scared to work at Raj Bhavan anymore. She said that she was called at odd hours and was subjected to harassment. And these are the people who talk about the dignity of our mothers and sisters?”.

C V Anand Bose, the West Bengal Governor rejected the accusation. He said that he will not be cowed down by the “engineered narratives” and “truth shall triumph”. He also added that nobody can “stop my fight against corruption and violence in Bengal”. Right after the controversy of the alleged molestation started, Bose issued an order banning the entry of the police and Chandrima Bhattacharya, Minister of State for Finance into Raj Bhavan.
