Sexual Abuse For Three Years: JD(S) Leader Files Complaint Against Prajwal Revanna

A JD(S) leader accused Prajwal Revanna of rape, voyeurism, and violation of privacy. Revanna, the grandson of JD(S) supremo HD Deva Gowda. The complainant alleged that Prajwal told her to control her husband because of whom his mother Bhavani Revanna lost the MLA ticket. In an FIR registered on May 1, the complainant complainant alleged that Revanna raped and sexually abused her for over three years from January 1, 2021 and April 25, 2024. She said, he also recorded videos of the assaults and threatened to leak the videos on social media platforms.

Reportedly, the first instance of abuse was when went to meet Revanna at the MP quarters in Hassan to obtain seats for girls at a government hostel. She was told wait upstairs where other women were waiting for him, as he was talking in the hall. When he came, he sent away other women after talking to them. Revanna took the complainant to his room and said that her husband was too outspoken due to which his mother lost the MLA ticket. He then threatened to finish her and her husband.

She alleged that he threatened with a gun, forced her to strip and recorded it. Allegedly, he told her that he would keep the video and threatened to kill her if she speak to anyone about the incident. The abuse increased after that and Revanna allegedly raped her several times, as said in the FIR.

Prajwal Revanna has been charged with section 376 (2n) (raping a woman multiple times). 354 (a)(1) ( unwelcome sexual overtures), 354(b) (disrobing a woman) and 354(c) (voyeurism) of the Indian Penal Code and section 66(e) (violation of privacy) of Information Technology Act.

A total of three FIRs have been filed after the sex scandal came to light on April 27. In an filed on April 28th, Both Prajwal Revanna and his father have been booked for sexual abuse. On May 2, Revanna was charged for kidnapping a Mysuru woman. One of the kidnapped was Bhavani Revanna’s relatives, and two others were Vokkaligas.

Reportedly, Revanna has fled the country even before the Karnataka government ordered to form a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate into the sex scandal involving Hassan MP. The investigation team will be headed by ADGP BK Singh, including Assistant IGP Suman D Pennekar and Mysore SP Seema Latkar. According to reports, Prajwal Revanna left for Germany on Saturday morning from Bengaluru.
