Sex Videos: Prajwal Revanna Leaves Country, Karnataka Orders SIT Probe

Edited by Timeline News Desk

After 100s of obscene and sleazy videos of Prajwal Revanna emerged ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, following a recommendation by the state Women’s Commission, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today announced that the government has decided to form a special investigation team to look into the matter. Prajwal Revanna is sitting MP of Hassan and grandson of former prime minister and JDS chief HD Deve Gowda. Earlier, the polling agent of Prajwal, currently the PM Modi-led NDA’s nominee in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, had approached the authorities with a complaint naming a Naveen as the person behind the sex videos leaked to the public to defame his candidate.

Meanwhile reports said the JDS leader, also son of former minister and Holenarasipura MLA HD Revanna, has already left the country and now in Germany. The alleged sex videos shows many women and the government said women have been sexually assaulted in the videos.

“The government has decided to form a special investigation team in connection with Prajwal Revanna’s obscene video case. Obscene video clips are circulating in Hassan district, where it appears that women have been sexually assaulted. In this background, the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission had written a letter to the government to conduct an SIT investigation. This decision has been taken in response to their request,” Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tweeted on Saturday.

Hassan Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on April 26 in the second phase of the general elections.

Prajwal’s camp has denied sexual assault allegations and called the videos ‘morphed’.

“Naveen Gowda and others morphed videos and images and circulated them to the voters in the Hassan Lok Sabha segment through pen drives, CDs and WhatsApp to put Prajwal Revanna in bad light. They are asking the people not to vote for him,” said the FIR filed by Poornachandra Tejaswi MG, the election agent of the NDA.

In this election, JDS and BJP has made an alliance in the state and Hassan has been allotted to JDS. Hassan is a stronghold of the Deve Gowda clan.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar demanded answers from the ruling party at the Centre as well. He reportedly stated, “The allegations of sexual assault are not just on some random Hassan leader. BY Vijayendra and others must answer.” BY Vijayendra, son of former BJP chief minister BS Yediyurappa, is BJP state chief and brother of party’s Shivamogga Lok Sabha candidate BY Raghavendra.

Mr Shivakumar mentioned having read reports where they claimed the Women’s Commission was attempting to tarnish their image. Mr. Shivakumar added that the Commission had written a letter to the chief minister and the home minister.

Regarding JDS leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy’s indirect accusation of his involvement in the case, Mr. Shivakumar responded, “Let him bring up my name. I will expose him.” He questioned if Kumaraswamy was justifying sexual assault against women by making such statements.
