INDIA Bloc Finalises Seat Sharing Deal In Bihar; RJD In 26, Congress In 9

The INDIA Bloc on Friday reached seat sharing consensus in Bihar regarding upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

As per the recent agreement, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) will contest in 26 seats. Meanwhile, Congress and the Left bloc will field candidates in nine and five seats respectively.

The announcement came when INDIA bloc held joint conference RJD headquarters in which Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, declared the number of seats and names of candidates. For the past three days, RJD and Congress leaders were negotiating seat-sharing formula in New Delhi. Bihar comprises 40 Lok Sabha seats.

Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav has dismissed reports of conflicts between his party and the grand old party and stated that an understanding over seat sharing arrangements had been arrived at and official announcement in this matter will be soon made in Patna. RJD has already declared candidates for seven constituencies in Bihar.

Meanwhile, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had announced the seat-sharing agreement in Bihar on March 18. As per the arrangement, in the Lok Sabha polls, BJP will contest in 17 seats and Janata Dal-United (JDU) in 16. Similarly, Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Aawam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) will field one seat each. Aside from them, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will fight polls in five seats.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP, JD (U), and LJP, secured victory by garnering 39 of the 40 seats. At the same time, In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan, comprising RJD, Congress, and RLSP, managed to obtain only one seat.
