Lata Wankhede, BJP’s Confidence In Sagar Lok Sabha Constituency Of Madhya Pradesh

Lata Wankhede is a popular name in Madhya Pradesh. The Damoh-born BJP leader has been serving the party for a long time since her joining in 1995. Wankhede was given ticket from Sagar Lok Sabha constituency of Madhya Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. From contesting for the Panch post (Ward member) to contesting on the MP ticket, Wankhede walked a long way.

Lata Wankhede is a well-educated politician. She is Post graduate in Economics, Sociology, and Journalism. She also holds a PhD in the role of journalism in the social upliftment of rural women. She came into active politics in 1995, when she contested for Panch post from Gram Panchayat Makronia Buzurg, which is now known as the Makronia Municipality.

After serving as the Pandh for five years, she was elected as Sarpanch (president of gram panchayat) for three consecutive times, from 2000 to 2015. Wankhede also served as the state president of the three-tier Panchayati State Federation three times.

Wankhede belongs to Kurumi community. While serves as Organization Minister of District Vidisha BJP, and state president of the women’s wing of Kurumi Kshatriya Samaj. Wankhede served as the state president of Madhya Pradesh State Women Commission (with cabinet minister statue).

The list of responsibilities carried out by Wankhede do not end there, she also served as the District President of BJP Mahila Morcha (women’s wing of BJP) for two consecutive terms. She also served as state president of Mahila Morcha.

Reportedly, by fielding Wankhede, the Bjaratiya Janata Party is washing off the scrutiny over not fielding any women candidate from the constituency during the assembly election.
