Israel Calls To Impose Sanction Against Tehran; Says Iran “Will Face Consequences”

Edited by Fathimathu Shana

After the direct attack from Iran in retaliation against Israel’s attack on the former’s consulate in Damascus, Tel Aviv said Tehran “will face consequences”. Israeli army chief Herzi Halevi said that they are closely assessing the situation and remain at their highest level of readiness.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu summoned his war cabinet two times within the gap of less than 24 hours on Monday after Iran launched more than 300 missiles on Israel.

Israel called for placing sanction against Iran and labelling the Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran as terrorist organisation. Israel Katz, the foreign minister of Israel said that along with the military response, Israel is moving to launch a diplomatic attack against Iran. He said, he send letters to 32 countries and spoke with several other counterparts calling to “place sanctions on Iran’s missile project and declare the Revolutionary Guard a terror organisation, as a way to stop and weaken Iran”, as quoted by media.

Taking to his X (formerly twitter) account, Katz wrote that “Iran must be stopped now – before its too late”.

As per Reuters, US Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen is preparing fresh sanctions on Iran. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said Tel Aviv will face “painful response” if it dares to take “slightest action” in response to Tehran’s unprecedented attack.

Reportedly, US President Joe Biden is set host talk with Iraq’s leader this week as tension soars in the Middle East. Tehran’s attack has heightened the fear of regional escalation. The fear of conflagration of the war has been on the brink ever since Israel started its genocidal bombing in Gaza after Hamas attacked Tel Aviv on October 7th.
