Yamaha has unveiled its latest fully-faired offering, the YZF-R9, which sports a new design language for Yamaha’s R-series motorcycles. In Yamaha’s R-series. The new R9 is placed above the R7 and the flagship R1, which is slowly going to be phased.
The new Yamaha R9 has a sharp front fairing with winglets, giving it a unique, yet an R-series look. The LED projector headlight is placed in the middle of the fairing flanked by DRLs on either side with a sharp tail section. The new R9 is available in three colour options to choose from- Team Yamaha Blue, Intensity White/Redline, and Matte Raven Black. The YZF-R9 is will carry over much of the same styling that is found on the flagship R1 and the R7 models. The structure is going to be built on a diamond frame and feature similar suspension components present on its siblings – USD front forks and a link-type adjustable swingarm in the rear. Brakes are hydraulic discs with a 298 mm dual disc in the front and a 245 mm single disc at the rear.
The motorcycle is built and designed to keep the weight in check. The aluminium Deltabox frame, is the lightest on any of its supersport till date. The motorcycle is suspended by fully adjustable KYB USD forks up front and a monoshock at the rear, with Brembo Stylema callipers. The motorcycle also gets a TFT display with an electronics package that has traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS.
The motorcycle is powered by in-line triple those powers the MT-09, an 890cc unit. The engine makes 117bhp of power with the help of a six-speed gearbox mated to a quickshifter. Yamaha’s all-new YZF-R9 brings a long list of standard features designed to bring confidence.
