Skoda's Upcoming Subcompact SUV: Name Reveal Set for August 21

Skoda is set to unveil the name of its latest sub-4-metre SUV on August 21st. This announcement follows a contest initiated by Skoda, where participants could choose from ten shortlisted names, all starting with the letter ‘K’, adhering to Skoda’s SUV naming convention. While only exterior sketches of the new subcompact SUV have been officially released, numerous spy shots of the vehicle have surfaced, giving enthusiasts a glimpse of what to expect.

Skoda Subcompact SUV: Design

The new SUV will be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, specifically designed for the Indian market, similar to the Kushaq and Slavia. This will be Skoda’s first sub-4-metre SUV in India. True to Skoda’s design philosophy, the vehicle will feature a clean yet muscular road presence with pronounced wheel arches. It will sport a split headlamp design with slim LED DRLs and an LED headlight positioned below. The front fascia will be dominated by a large radiator grille with three-dimensional vertical slats framed in chrome, giving it a distinctive and bold look.

Skoda Subcompact SUV: Features

The new SUV is expected to share several features with the Kushaq and Slavia. The top variant will come equipped with a 10-inch infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8-inch all-digital instrument cluster. Lower trims will feature an analogue driver’s cluster and a 7-inch touchscreen display. Other expected features include front-ventilated seats, ambient lighting, a sunroof, and automatic climate control.

In terms of safety, Skoda aims for a five-star safety rating from Global NCAP, akin to the Kushaq and Slavia. The SUV will be equipped with six airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, rain-sensing wipers, Hill Hold Control, and cruise control, ensuring a high level of safety for all passengers.

Skoda Subcompact SUV: Engine Specifications

Positioned as Skoda’s entry-level vehicle for the Indian market, the sub-4-metre SUV will cater to the price-sensitive segment. It will be powered by a 1-litre TSI petrol engine, producing 114 bhp. Buyers will have the option to choose between a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, providing flexibility based on driving preferences.

The new Skoda subcompact SUV is set to compete in the growing sub-4-metre SUV segment in India. With its robust design, advanced features, and strong safety credentials, it is expected to make a significant impact when it debuts in 2025. Enthusiasts and potential buyers eagerly await the official unveiling and subsequent launch of this promising new model.
