Speaking at the launching event of the Kinetic E-Luna, the Luna electric avatar with affordable price, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that his first vehicle was Luna itself. Reminiscing his past, the minister known fondly as the ‘Highway Man of India’ revealed that his first vehicle was Luna gifted by his mother.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said that the Luna holds a special place in his heart. “On this special occasion, I reminisce about my first vehicle -the Luna, a cherished gift from my mother to me. The Luna holds a special place in my heart as my first vehicle, and though today, I own numerous other vehicles, the memories associated with the Luna presented by my mother remain engraved in my heart,” Nitin Gadkari said.
The road transport minister is praised for his promotion of green vehicles and he has been encouraging people to adopt electronic vehicles (EVs). His vehicle collections include a variety of environmentally friendly cars. His greener cars include the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric SUV and the Toyota Mirai fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). The minister has also pushed for the use of EVs by arriving at the parliament house in the Toyota Mirai, a hydrogen-based Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV).
The vehicle, Kinetic Luna first launched in 1972 had received widespread acceptance in the late 90s. However, at a time when the electric vehicle industry is creating transformation in the two-wheeler segment, Kinetic is launching its new E-Luna.
The new lunch comes with a coloured, dual tubular steel chassis while providing a payload capacity of 150 Kg. The vehicle”s other features include the electric propulsion that comes from a 2.0 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, enabling the drive of 110 km per change as per the claims.
