Written by S Das

The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift has hit the Indian market, marking the much-anticipated launch of this beloved compact car. Priced at Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Swift brings forth a range of updates aimed at enhancing its appeal to consumers.

In terms of design, the 2024 Swift retains its iconic silhouette while receiving subtle yet notable changes. Sporting a refreshed grille with honeycomb mesh inserts, the car maintains its sporty and compact aesthetic. Additionally, the relocation of the rear door handles from the C-pillars to the doors adds to its modern appeal. Accompanying these design tweaks are 15-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, and a choice of nine exterior colour options, including the introduction of striking new shades like Blue and Orange.

Moving inside, the new Swift boasts a black dashboard housing a state-of-the-art free-floating infotainment system. Offering wireless smartphone connectivity, navigation, and a premium 6-speaker audio setup, the cabin ensures a tech-savvy and enjoyable driving experience. Furthermore, the inclusion of over 40 connected car features, rear AC vents, and a semi-digital instrument console elevate the comfort and convenience quotient for occupants.

In terms of safety, Maruti Suzuki has upped the ante with the introduction of six airbags as standard across all variants of the new Swift. This significant enhancement is complemented by advanced safety features such as ABS with EBD, stability control, and ISOFIX seat anchors, underlining the brand’s commitment to passenger safety.

Under the hood, the 2024 Swift is powered by a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine, replacing its predecessor, the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K-Series unit. Despite the downsizing, the new powertrain delivers a punchy performance, generating 80bhp and 112Nm of torque. Drivers have the option of choosing between a responsive 5-speed manual gearbox or the convenience of an AMT unit. Impressively, Maruti Suzuki has managed to achieve an impressive mileage of 24.8 kmpl with the manual transmission variant and 24.75 kmpl with the AMT version, ensuring an optimal balance between performance and fuel efficiency.

The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift stands as a testament to the brand’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. With its refreshed design, enhanced features, and improved safety standards, the new Swift promises to delight both existing fans and prospective buyers alike, cementing its position as one of India’s favourite hatchbacks.
