Booking Opens For Maruti Suzuki’s New-Gen Swift: What To Expect?

Written by S Das

The upcoming launch of the fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift is creating quite a buzz in India’s automotive circles, with the carmaker set to unveil the model next week. As one of the most anticipated car launches of 2024, Maruti Suzuki has already begun accepting bookings for the new Swift at a token amount of Rs 11,000. The official prices are slated to be announced on May 9, 2024, which is eagerly awaited by potential buyers.

What’s New in the Fourth-Gen Maruti Swift?

The fourth-gen Swift is set to bring a host of upgrades, both aesthetic and mechanical, over its predecessor. Externally, the car will sport a new blacked-out grille featuring honeycomb mesh with gloss-black surrounds, coupled with a redesigned clamshell bonnet and sleeker headlamps that include integrated L-shaped DRLs. The model for the Indian market is expected to feature 15-inch dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels.

A significant change will be the relocation of the rear-door handles to a more conventional position below the window pane, moving away from the current model’s pillar-mounted handles. Additionally, the rear of the car will showcase more squarish taillamps with updated internals. Dimensionally, the new Swift will be slightly longer by 15 mm, taller by 30 mm, and narrower by 40 mm, though the wheelbase remains unchanged.

Internally, the car will ditch the all-dark theme for a more contemporary dual-tone grey-black interior, similar to those seen in the Fronx and Baleno. A major highlight in the cabin will be a new 9-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system that becomes the center piece of the dashboard. Added to this are modern features such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree parking camera with dashcam support, cruise control, and a head-up display.

Under the hood, the Swift will debut an all-new 1.2-litre Z-series 3-cylinder petrol engine, expected to deliver power similar to the outgoing 4-cylinder K-series engine. The engine will be paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT, providing options for all driving preferences.

With its modernized features and updates, the new-gen Swift is set to appeal to a broad range of customers looking for a fresh and technologically up-to-date vehicle. As the launch date nears, the excitement among car enthusiasts and potential buyers is palpable, with many eager to see how Maruti Suzuki will redefine their popular model in its latest iteration.
