Swift Could Soon Gain An Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)

In May 2024, Maruti Suzuki introduced the fourth-generation Swift to the Indian market. Despite a few minor improvements, the well-liked hatchback kept the Swift nameplate’s culture and heritage. However, the India-specific Swift lacks several features that are included in its global equivalent that is sold in places like Europe. ADAS is one of them.
The Swift could soon get an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), though, given Maruti’s recent increased emphasis on safety. Something is cooking, as evidenced by a recent YouTube video featuring a Swift test mule seen in Delhi NCR. The India-spec Swift is noticeably inferior than the prototype seen in this video.

The most recent spy photos show sportier front and rear bumpers with additional black accents, fully clad in back. The back Since the ORVMs have cameras, they probably have features like lane maintain assist and blind spot monitoring. However, there are some obvious improvements that raise questions. This test mule, for example, has rear disc brakes, which are exclusive to the Japanese-spec (JDM) model. This implies that Swift could be a Japan-spec model intended exclusively for export.

Given the expense, it is reasonable to assume that the India-spec Swift may not receive ADAS in the near future. After the Baleno and Fronx, the Swift will be the third Maruti Suzuki car to be sent from India to Japan if this proves to be an export model.
In particular, the bumper features a thin chrome strip integrated in the bottom lip and a slightly different shape. The radar module located inside the front grille, however, is the most important detail to note. This implies that ADAS functionalities are integrated into this Swift prototype.

The India-specific The 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, normally aspirated gasoline engine that powers the Swift produces 81 horsepower and a maximum torque of 112 Nm. Either a 5-speed AMT or a 5-speed manual gearbox is matched with this unit. Additionally, this powertrain is available in CNG configuration, which generates 68 horsepower and 102 Nm of torque when mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. In India, the Swift can be purchased for as little as Rs 6.49 lakh and as much as Rs 9.59 lakh (both ex-showroom). LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+ are the five general trims that are offered.
