Renault Duster 4X4 With LPG Powertrain Launch Likely Soon

India will get the brand-new Renault Duster next year, although it’s currently available for purchase outside. The Duster 4X4’s innovative mild-hybrid drivetrain is being prepared for launch. According to Motor.es spy photos, the off-road-focussed model will be available with both a gasoline hybrid and a gasoline-LPG engine option.

Test mules have just been spotted on the outskirts of Spain, displaying the Duster equipped with a 1.2-liter ECO-G engine, 48-volt MHEV technology, and 4X4 gear. In the next production model, this engine will be paired with a gasoline-LPG technology. The test vehicle in these spy photos includes a side-mounted exhaust right in front of the left rear wheel, which may not be present in the production model of the petrol MHEV LPG powerplant, which is still undergoing testing.

This engine produces 150 horsepower and may run on gasoline or LPG. It will have a 48V electric motor that will operate on the back axle in the case of traction loss, and it will be driven by a dual-clutch automatic transmission. This all-wheel-drive system will function similarly to the Jeep Avenger 4xe’s. The Renault Bigster SUV will also be equipped with the same electric rear axle system.

A 100hp 1.0-litre bi-fuel three-cylinder engine, a 130hp 1.2-liter mild hybrid, and the top-spec 140hp 1.6-liter petrol-hybrid are the current powertrain options available for the new Duster worldwide, depending on the market. An electric Renault Duster is also in the works, although it won’t be available anytime soon, as we previously revealed. An electric drivetrain could be included to the next generation Duster, which is anticipated to debut in 2030 or 2031. The new Duster is anticipated to be introduced by Renault India in 2026. Major improvements for the Triber and Kiger are being prepared for commercial release this year.
