Many Indian celebrities set out their entrepreneurial and investment journeys in 2023, making investments in startups. India is the 3rd largest startup ecosystem globally, with 1,12,718 startups, of which 114 are unicorns, with a presence in 763 districts. The number of startups is projected to grow by 64% to reach 1.8 lakh by 2030. Moreover, the startup ecosystem is projected to play a crucial role in India”s GDP growth.

Indian startup Eco System earned $42 billion in funding in 2023 and is expected to garner 70% more by 2025. With this, making significant investments in startups has proven to be very lucrative.

Here is the investment portfolio of Celebrities.

  1. Akshay Kumar and cricketer Virender Sehwag have huge exposure at Two Brothers Organic Farm, an agritech startup.
  2. Kareena Kapoor is the cofounder of Quench Botanics, a Korean skincare brand.
  3. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have made investments in the fledgling plant-based meat company, Blue Tribe Foods.
  4. Anushka Sharma has bought stakes in Slurrp Farm, which sells healthy snacks like flavored cereals, ready-to-make foods, and superfoods for children.
  5. Athiya Shetty supports social commerce startup Stage 3. She is also the creative director of that firm.
  6. Alia Bhatt bought stakes in the baby and mom care brand SuperBottoms. She endorses the brand as well.
  7. Dia Mirza has invested in sustainable baby clothing brand Greendigo since September this year. She is also the brand ambassador for the brand.
    Deepika Padukone has invested in Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters’.
  8. Indian actress Kajal Agarwal invested in D2C brand The Ayurveda Co. (T.A.C.). 
    Actress Malaika Arora invested in the healthy dessert startup Get-A-Whey.
  9. Actress Nayanthara and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, bought stakes in Chennai-based The Divine Foods in October.
  10. Actress Parineeti Chopra has invested in the sustainable personal care startup Clensta in July 2023.
  11. Sanjay Dutt infused a large sum in Alcobev (an alcohol beverage) firm Cartel & Bros., DawnTown.
  12. Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra supports two startups, WickedGud and KisanKonnect
  13. Actor Ranveer Singh is the co-owner of the startup D2C sexual health and wellness brand Bold Care, post-investment.

According to a report, many celebrities have established family offices to manage their investments professionally.
