The latest ICC ODI ranking released on Wednesday placed Virat Kohli close to reclaiming the first rank, just eight rating points behind his teammate Rohit Sharma, who retained the first rank.
Kohli climbed two places to No.2, pushing New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran down to 3rd and 4th respectively, After the sensational ODI series against South Africa, where he was named Player of the Series after India clinched a 2-1 victory.

India secured a gritty 2-1 ODI series victory against South Africa in Ranchi, Raipur, and Visakhapatnam. Kohli racked up 302 runs, including a classy 102 off 93 balls in Raipur and an unbeaten 65 off 45 in the decider, while Rohit added 146 runs to hold his lead at 781 points, with Kohli on 773.
