Former Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has become the oldest player to climb to the top of the ICC ODI batting rankings. The former captain surpassed Indian skipper Shubman Gill to claim the coveted No.1 spot for the first time at 38. In the recently concluded India vs Australia ODI series, the veteran opener struck a gritty 73 runs off 97 balls in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval.

As per the latest ICC ODI ranking order, Shubman Gill, who had been in sublime form earlier this year, dropped to third place after a lean series against Australia, scoring just 10, 9, and 24 runs across three matches.

Skipper Suryakumar Yadav has joined Rohit Sharma with the bat in the shorter format of the game, crossing 150 T20I sixes, becoming only the second Indian and the fifth-ever player ever to do so, during India’s first T20I vs Australia.
