Dubai-Based Indian Businessman Vasu Shroff, 'Textile King', Dies At 85

Dubai, UAE: Veteran Indian businessman and founder of Regal Traders Vasu Shroff has died. He was 85 when he took his final breath between 7.30am and 8am at his home in Fatwa. In a statement, Shroff’s family announced the news with ‘deep regret.

The funeral will be held at the New Sonapur Crematorium in Dubai on Monday, April 27 at 4.30 pm. Shroff is regarded as a vital figure of the UAE’s textile trade, and thus known as the Textile King in the Emirate.

Paying tribute to the businessman, Lulu Group chairman MA Yusuffali said he is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr Vasu Shroff, calling him   a true pioneer of the UAE’s business community.

“His journey and achievements have inspired generations of Indian entrepreneurs who came to the UAE and made it their home. He will always be remembered for his humility, resilience, and contributions to society.” Yusuffali said, adding that Shroff was among the early visionaries who helped shape Dubai’s commercial landscape.

Tributes are pouring in from across Dubai’s business community, with many recalling Vasu Shroff as a humble leader. Anis Sajan, vice chairman of Danube Group said that Shroff was “very kind and noble soul” noting that he had known the deceased businessman for more than 25 years and would often meet him at Jindal Nature Cure.
