India Commits To Buying $500B In US Goods Over Next 5 Years, Marco Rubio Announces

New Delhi: US  Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday, May 24, announced that India has committed to purchasing $500 billion in US goods over the next five years.

Rubio, while thanking US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor  and other diplomates, noted that India’s purchase would be focused on energy, technology, and agriculture. The announcement came after the American diplomat, headed by Rubio, had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Huge thanks to @USAmbIndia Sergio Gor and our American diplomats for their efforts. Because of their great work, India has committed to purchasing USD 500 billion in U.S. goods over the next five years, focusing on energy, technology, and agriculture. They’re doing terrific work on behalf of President Trump and the American people!” the US  Secretary of State wrote on X.

Rubio’s visit to India and the business deal suggests Washington’s growing economic partnership with New Delhi. During his visit, the US secretary of state met Prime Minister Modi, discussing  bilateral ties, energy cooperation, regional security and developments in West Asia.

Rubio also said that he invited Prime Minister Modi to the White House on behalf of the President.
