Demands Grow For Nobel Peace Prize To Franchesca Albanese And Gaza Doctors
Voices are rising across the world to nominate the human rights activist and UN Special Rapporteur for the West Bank, Francesca Albanese, and the Gaza doctors for the unrelenting efforts in Gaza, for the Nobel Peace Prize. Franchesca was appointed in May 2022 and is independently monitoring, reporting, and advising on human rights issues in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
Nominations for a Nobel Peace Prize for Francesca Albanese are gathering steam. The petition hosted on the Avaaz Community (https://secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/stand_with_francesca_loc/) has received over 5,50,000 nominations out of the targeted 7,50,000 petitions so far.

The petition addressed to eligible nominators and the Nobel Committee wrote, “As people from across the world, we believe Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur for the West Bank and Gaza, and the doctors caring for people in Gaza deserve a Nobel Peace Prize for their work.”
While mentioning the US sanctions against Francesca Albanese for her efforts in speaking against atrocities in Gaza, Avaaz mentioned, “Together we can use this moment to show we have her back, and want the world’s most prestigious prize to go to her and the doctors caring for people in Gaza. Join now and share it with everyone.”
Notably, the US is imposing sanctions on Francesca Albanese. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the US was sanctioning Albanese for directly engaging with the International Criminal Court in its efforts to prosecute American or Israeli nationals, accusing her of being unfit for service as a UN Special Rapporteur.

He also accused Albanese of having “spewed unabashed antisemitism, expressed support for terrorism, and open contempt for the United States, Israel, and the West”.
Albanese has long argued that Western governments are not doing enough to support the rights of Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a post on X, Albanese wrote: “[O]n this day more than ever: I stand firmly and convincingly on the side of justice, as I have always done.”
