“Jai Highrich”: How Highrich Members Are Responding To The Latest Developments

In the previous story, we have given both sides of the latest controversy emanated from Kerala after GST department’s move and the steps taken by Thrissur collector following finance ministry orders. A major part of Timeline news story had covered the versions of Highrich management and Highrich members.

The thumb rule – no public reactions

According to claims by Highrich management and Highrich members, the total beneficiaries of the online shopping plus hypermarket chain company are around between 1.70 crore to 1.80 crore. After the company has started to hit headlines in last two weeks, the management has asked all these members to not to comment publicly on the happenings in Kerala involving government’s various arms. This has been conveyed to the members that no one should be making claims or clarifications in the public regarding the latest developments.

If you surf through the social media platforms where there are several profiles to Highrich company operate, you will see this particular silence on the legal matters from members.

At least three people, who are earning thousands (obviously, according to them) through being part of Highrich family, responded to Timeline saying that they have been specifically asked by the management to not to comment of the legal matters involving the company.

“We have been asked by our management and the senior members in the Highrich family not to comment on the allegations those are being raised against the company on social media and mainstream media,” one member told Timeline in a voice clip sent as a reaction to our previous story.

More worried are the people who are not Highrich members

“Almost 1.80 crore people are associated with Highrich. However, the more worried than the Highrich members are those people who are not part of it,” said another member to Timeline.

This female member of Highrich has also said why she or other members are not worried about the issues being reported about the company that has also ventured into an OTT platform, HR TT, which currently in preparation of a large public programme that will be aired on the platform.

“Raids do not mean shutting everything down. Raids are done in a way as a temporary enquiry process when certain allegations against a company has been made, and in the course of this, they freeze accounts as well. Account freezing are done to make sure that the money transactions are not happening during when the enquiry is on,” she added.

She believes that when a company becomes big, there is always a possibility that the agencies may come after it and will check their books. “That is what happening with Highrich right now. We (Highrich members) had already been informed about the impending legal issues. We are not worried about this. There people who have invested more lakhs and crores,” she said.

‘Highrich care about its members’

Sreena Prathapan, one of the directors of the company, has said that Highrich is a supermarket chain-cum-online shopping platforms that gives an 18-level income to members and customers.

One question, that has been raised by the naysayers that: How the people on the bottom of this 18-level system being treated now, since the people on the top have either benefitted from the business happened in the company before the legal troubles started or they all are well versed now?

Highrich members have answers for this: “We have been asked to accommodate all the members who joined the company recently and not getting any benefit or returns as our company accounts are frozen. We have decided that, people who have benefitted from Highrich earlier will give a share from their past revenue to the new members. Jai Highrich,” commented a member in a response to the Timeline story.

“Jai Highrich” is the slogan of survival for its members now. When asked about the slogan, one member said: “It may sound like any other slogan. But, for Highrich members, Jai Highrich means the yesterday, today and tomorrow for each one of them.”
