In an unexpected turn in the JioHotstar domain saga, Dubai-based siblings Jainam, 13, and Jivika, 10, have now claimed that Indian conglomerate Reliance has approached them for acquiring the domain jiohotstar.com. The siblings had offered the domain to Reliance Industries for free. The siblings, who bought the domain from a Delhi app developer, made the announcement on their YouTube channel JJMission Diary on Sunday.
In their statement, the siblings clarified their motivations, stating, “Our journey with jiohotstar.com is coming to an end. We believe the domain could be useful for Reliance, and this transfer is a gesture of kindness. There is no payment or deal involved. It’s purely our decision.”
They revealed that Reliance’s legal team had approached them and requested them to visit Mumbai to finalise the agreement. “We are waiting for the draft agreement. Once it is signed, we will transfer the domain, and the website will close,” they added.
The siblings emphasised their continued commitment to social causes through their platform SevakArmy.com, inviting supporters to join their mission of spreading kindness.

The story surrounding the domain began when a Delhi-based app developer registered jiohotstar.com, speculating on a possible merger between Jio Cinema and Disney+ Hotstar, as reported in 2023. The developer initially offered to sell the domain to Reliance for ₹1 crore, aiming to fund his Cambridge University studies. However, Reliance declined the offer and opted for legal action against him.
Subsequently, Jainam and Jivika purchased the domain from the developer to assist him, though the purchase amount remains undisclosed. Their decision to transfer the domain to Reliance, they said, aligns with their mission to promote “Seva” (selfless service).
Reliance Industries has yet to confirm whether they will utilise the domain. Meanwhile, the siblings have thanked their supporters and pledged to continue their philanthropic initiatives through their active YouTube channels, JJFuntime and JJMissionDiary.
Here’s the note from the siblings:
“Dear Friends, Today, we write to you with mixed emotions. Our journey with jiohotstar.com is coming to an end, a journey that started with a simple act of kindness to help a young developer from Delhi chase his dreams. It has been wonderful to share this space with all of you, spread hope, and talk about the importance of Seva and kindness.

We have an important update to share: Reliance IP legal team has approached us, and we will be transferring this domain to them, free of cost .
There have been some rumours online suggesting that there is a payment or deal involved, but we want to make it clear—this is not true. Just as we said in our last video, there is no pressure from anyone, and there is no deal of any kind. This is purely a transfer of the domain from our side because we believe it could be useful for them. Whether or not they choose to use it is up to them.
The Reliance IP legal team has contacted us. We have told them that the domain transfer will only happen after the agreement is signed. They have asked us to visit Mumbai to sign the agreement. We are waiting for the draft. We hope the agreement will be signed soon. As soon as this happens, we will transfer the domain and this website will come to an end. Our mission here may be ending, but our larger journey of Seva continues. You can still find us at SevakArmy.com, a platform created to bring volunteers together and make a positive difference.
If you want to stay connected or follow our future projects, our channels JJFuntime and JJMissionDiary will be active, with new missions coming soon.
