The global IT outage on July 19, crashing 8 million computers has now forced shareholders to sue Crowdstrike for its inaccurate software update. Shareholders stated that the assurance from Crowdstrike was jinxed and its technology misguided and has now prevailed through the disruption of airlines, banks and even emergency lines. The shareholders filed a proposed class action in Texas federal court on Tuesday.
According to Reuters, Crowdstrike’s share price dropped 32 per cent of its share affecting billions of market value after the IT outage. Crowdstrike’s CEO George Kurtz was called to take the stand at the US Congress and Delta Air Lines reportedly assigned lawyer David Boies who is known for his proficiency to evaluate the loss.

As per the statements reported on Wednesday, CEO Kurtz and Chief Finance Officer Burt Podbero stated that they unanimously defend the company and this case wouldn’t stand as it lakhs merits to oppose. Delta Chief Executive ED Bastin told CNBC that the IT outage has affected and should cost his company $500 million which includes compensations and the total loss. It was said that Crowdstrike may confront more lawsuits as it led to a massive loss and stock price to fall drastically.
After the global IT outage created chaos worldwide, many have raised concerns about the resilience and accuracy of digital infrastructure across IT sectors and others. The sudden IT failure has disrupted the work of millions of people and has crucially impacted the governing systems as well. This negative impact has made shareholders file lawsuits against Crowdstrike and levy a high compensation burden on the company calculating the loss.
