Walmart Upgrades To Digital Technology From Paper Price Tags To Ease Employees' Task

It was said that the employees add tags on every new item which consumes most of their time on this repetitive task.

Walmart is in the process of shifting their paper price tags giving an upgrade to electronic pricing. They will be implementing this soon to label prices using digital technology from the current paper stickers as reported by CBS News.

According to the reports, it will be carried out by 2026, in its 2,300 U.S stores. Walmart now uses individual paper tags on labels attached to around 120,000 products on their shelves. It was said that the employees add tags on every new item which consumes most of their time on this repetitive task.

The new technology would dwindle this process and make it a cakewalk for the employees. This will allow them to update prices with a mobile app from a stable position. Earlier the employees were asked to swap out papers with their hands and labelling them to the product in store.

This will also help employees to spend more time with the customers to ensure their needs are fulfilled which will aid in boosting the rapport with a peaceful shopping experience.

As per a CBS News report, the company said that Digital shelf life would benefit the employee to finish the task in a couple of minutes rather than two days of walking to every row. Daniela Boscan, a Walmart employee who attended the testing procedure in Grapevine, Texas said, ” This method represents a shift in how I and other store associates, manage pricing, inventory, order fulfillment and customer interactions, ensuring our customers enjoy an even better experience.”

The major reason for shifting to the digital process is that the labour hours of sticking price tags will be solved and it will help to cut costs as well. The company also said that they will not use this technology to hike the price just like how retailers surge their price or product cost after an upgrade. The company confirms that digital pricing is amiable to both customers and employees.
