Master's Degree At 77 From IIIT-H, Now Eyeing PhD

Knowledge doesn’t see any barrier including age has been proven correct by S L N Shastry, a 77-year-old Hyderabad man who recently graduated from the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H).
The grandfather of 4 graduates was the supervisor during the construction of as a supervisor, 27 years ago.

While working with the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).

While sharing his academic journey of master’s degree the shastry said that the journey was curious and being among the students encouraged to be on the campus.

He took 6 years to complete his master’s as he had to make regular visits to Vijayawada for data collection, he joined IIIT-H as an estate manager after the end of his tenure with the corporation he was working with. Shastry is now a university engineer.

His master’s thesis was entitled Seismic Vulnerability of Existing RC Buildings in Vijayawada’. For the thesis Shastry conducted field studies and did rebound hammer tests on buildings specifically located on hill slopes and riverbanks and had a total of nearly 2,000 reading.

He last attended college in 1977, while doing engineering from Osmania University.
