Condemns Massive Fee Hike of CUET Post Graduate Application Forms: SFI Delhi

Student Federation of India (SFI) Delhi condemned and opposed the fee hike of CUET PG application forms for 2024. According to the student body, the existing fee structure CUET PG forms was already high and now the National Testing Agency (NTA) has increased the fees by 200 rupees, totaling 1200/- for general category students, 1000 for OBC and EWS students, 900 for SC/ST and third gender students and 800 for PwD students.

The justification given for the fee hike by the head of NTA, SFI Delhi said, is a flimsy logic suited for profit making corporations. “The fee hike is to justify higher cost of operations”.

SFI strongly opposed this logic and called it out for being another step that the government at large is taking towards the complete privatization of education. “The cost of operations is not supposed to be taken from the students themselves. This is a blatant attack on the opportunity for higher education for the students of the country”.

It also alleged that the BJP led Central Government and its backed agency NTA has completely failed to make CUET an inclusive examination process. “Despite students raising concerns about gross negligence, the Ministry of Education is hellbent on going ahead with such anti-student policies”.

SFI Delhi demanded the NTA should immediately revoke the increased fee structure. “We also appeal students to raise voice against such arbitrary decisions made which has become an economic burden for students especially coming from marginalized community,” a statement from Aishe Ghosh, President and Mayank Azad, Secretary of SFI Delhi State Committee said.

The NTA has been assigned the task of conducting the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) for Post Graduate (PG) programmes. CUET is held for admission to different programmes of the participating Central Universities, will provide a single window opportunity to the students to seek admission in these participating universities or institutes across the country.
