
Congress Targets Bihar's Education As Governor Picks Principals By Lottery
Today, Kanhaiya Kumar, All India Congress Committee Incharge, NSUI, targeted the Bihar education system while briefing during a press conference. The NSUI leader raised several questions on infrastructure, teacher-student ratio, quality of education, and method of recruitment in colleges.
Mentioning the Bihar’s government recent interview about recruiting 4 college principles of Patna University through lottery system. Kanhaiya Kumar said that the level of education in Bihar can be understood by the governors defence of the recuritment process.

Notably, questions have been raised after the appointment of college principals where a male professor has been appointed as the professor of a women’s college. The governor defended by saying that there is no such rule that a male professor can’t be appointed to a women’s college. Also, concerns were raised after a home science professor was appointed as the principal of a commerce college.
Responding to the recruitment, the Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said that the post of principals is an administrative post only and not an academic one. Also, the lottery system was adopted to get away with nepotism in the recruitment, he said. On the issue of male professors’ appointment to women’s colleges, the governor said that there are no guidelines or rules that a male candidate can not become a principal of a women’s college.
