The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE 2025, one of the most sought after national-level eligibility-cum-entrance examination, will be organised by IIT Roorkee for the next academic year. GATE, assesses candidates’ understanding in various undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities.
GATE 2025 will be jointly conducted by IISc and seven IITs: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee, on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB) – GATE, under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
Qualified candidates can seek admission, with potential financial assistance, to Master’s and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities. GATE scores are also considered by some institutions for postgraduate admissions without MoE scholarships. Additionally, several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and reputed organisations use GATE scores for recruitment.
GATE 2025 will be a computer-based test (CBT) featuring 30 test papers, all in English. Candidates can choose to appear for one or two test papers from the allowed combinations. GATE scores will remain valid for three years from the result announcement date.
The application portal is expected to open in the last week of August 2024. The exam will be held on 1st, 2nd, 15th, and 16th February 2025, with both forenoon and afternoon sessions on each day.
