MP State Minister Kept Looking For Potato In The Curry Served In Mid-Day Meal

The State Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar was on a surprise visit to a government school in Madhya Pradesh.  A visual from the minister’s school visit is circulating on the social media ‘X’ where he was seen checking the quality of food provided to students in the Mid-Day Meal.

In the viral video clip, the minister can be seen sitting on the floor and trying food that is served to the students during the Mid-day meal.  Minister Tomar upon serving the meal tried to find out the potato in the Potato curry that was cooked in the school.

Mid-Day Meal Scheme is a school meal program in India to cater to the nutritonal status of school-age children. The scheme has been renamed as PM-POSHAN Scheme. Under this program, children studying in government primary and upper primary schools, government aided Anganwadis, Madarsa and Maqtabs are provided free lunch on working days.

The Midday Meal Scheme was first implemented in Puducherry under the French administration in 1930. In post independent India, the first such scheme was launched in Tamil Nadu in 1960s.

The food served in Mid day meal often remain under the radar over the quality of food and poor implementation of the scheme. Reportedly, the food served remain below the standard that is required.
