Pondicherry University Postpones Exams Due To Temple Consecration Event

Pondicherry University Postpones Exams On Temple Consecration Day

In a circular issued by Pondicherry University, the university notified the students that given the half-day closure of the university on January 22, all the university semester examinations scheduled to be held on January 22 Monday will be postponed on account of the Ram Lalla Pran consecration ceremony celebration in Ayodhya.

The university has also informed revised exam dates and further said the revised date will be communicated to the students accordingly.

The university has also declared a full day closure on January 22. It said that the compensatory working day in lieu of above holy day will be notified in due course.

As a measure to observe the temple event, the central government and several BJP-ruled states have declared public leave on January 22. The public leave declared by governments for the Ram temple event has also been criticised by several opposition parties.

Opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi have declined the invitation to the consecration ceremony, calling it an “RSS/BJP event,” noting that the temple event has been politicised by the ruling party. However, the BJP’s much-celebrated temple consecration event, giving holy day for employees and offices is seen to be one of its political achievements.
